There are two main ways you can change the Tangent
Type of a key frame. The first is in the time line, the second is in Track View.
To change Tangent Types in the timeline:
- Using your project ball01
from the beginning of this lecture, right click on one of the key frames in
the timeline.
- This will bring up a menu, from which you
need to choose the controller Sphere01: Position
- This will open the Key Info Box:

-
The Key
Info Box allows you to fine tune the key frame's values and its
position in the timeline. It also allows you to change the In
and Out Tangent Types
for that key frame. Click and hold on the current tangent type to open a
drop down menu.
-
You can move between the key
frames for a selected controller by using the
black arrows in the top left.
-
Try changing the In
and Out Tangent Types
for each keyframe to Linear. You do not
need to worry about the In Tangent Type for the
first key frame or the Out Tangent Type for the
last key frame, as there is no action taking place there.

-
Look at how the Trajectory
changes:
-
Play your animation.
-
Practice adding more key frames
to your animation and changing the tangent types.
-
Save your project as a new
file.
